Hi, doll.
Greetings from tonight’s Leo full moon, the lunar equivalent of a bushel of roses from your secret crush.
The world may be on fire, but this lunar aspect is a veritable manifestival.* Any move you’re inspired to make over the next 24 hours will pave the way for great progress in your financial, creative, and—hoo baby!—romantic endeavors.
Let’s break it down, shall we?
Even the least astrologically oriented readers of the Ruby Report may recall my ravings about last summer’s Venus Retrograde, in which we were introduced to our obstacles in all areas of love. Think intimacies of every sort, arts, esthetics, ethics, etiquette, and money, honey. (At core, money is a resource of support.)
Because this retrograde took place in the sign of Leo, our shadows around joy, patience, self-expression, and self-worth were highlighted—as were the ways we privileged our ego over the highest good. For many of us, it was a rough, humbling summer.
I mention this not to retrigger your VRLT (Venus Retrograde in Leo Trauma*), but to assure you that tonight’s “wolf moon” can heal retrograde fallout and release residual obstacles.
All full moons release stuck energy and Leo loves pleasure—hers and everyone else’s. In short, this gorgeous broad wants to manifest your desires, and she always gets her way.
“Here I am not the one to throw out. No one steals my warmth and shoes because I am small. No one watches my body for how it is unseemly. With you my body is pleasure is safe is belonging. I can never not have you have me.”—Toni Morrison
Of course, this week we’re not just looking at the "I," but the "we."
Last Saturday, the sun entered Aquarius, the sign focusing on humanity-at-large and spiritual and technological advancements. Making big headlines, Pluto—the planet of power, wealth, and hidden truths—joined the Sun that day for its first full transit in this sign since 1777-1798—the era of the American Revolutionary War.
Particularly since Uranus, the planet of revolution, finally goes direct this weekend, tonight’s full moon ushers in a period of profound, systemic change that may escalate the tension between the collective and the individual, along with our need for peace in a world that promotes so much violence and inequality.
Given the radical destabilization already occurring domestically and abroad, the true nature of this change is yet to be determined, but that’s no excuse to remain passive. If anything, the astrology of this moment is demanding we more actively address others’ suffering.
Starting this month, you can—and honestly should—decide how you want to serve beautiful change in the collective. We all have different roles to play, and being clear and compassionate about your unique calling has never been more important.
I guess that’s why I’m especially fond of tonight’s sex bomb of a full moon. It’s a lot more fun to march for social justice with toes curled in pleasure.
Rituals, Not Rules
A full moon in Leo is a run-with-the-wolves aspect—a time to blow out any ambivalence you harbor about what you want and feel in your personal and artistic endeavors.
The sole rule is my favorite rule: Do only what you want.
You may wish to start with a salt bath. Rub oil into your feet, limbs, and heart. Turn off as much electricity as possible, light as many candles as you please, and journal about your desires in a notebook that you dig. (It doesn’t have to be fancy.) If you’re not comfortable with your desires—or wish to release ones that have outlived their welcome—journal about that too.
One of the perennial desires I list: “I want to want my highest good.”
When you’re done, rip out the pages you’ve just written (take a photo first if you want), burn them in a pretty bowl, and pour salt water over the ashes. Leave the bowl to soak in the moonlight.
In the morning, soak your fingers in that water before transcribing whatever downloads you received in your dreams. My gut is they will offer bona-fide treasure maps!
For now, consider what else you wish to do with your night. You can sit with your candles until they die out, sprinkle rose or lavender on your sheets, and luxuriate in your favorite bedding. But also consider dancing out whatever’s been holding you back from your dream project, dream team, dreamboat. Personally, after I send out tonight’s newsletter, I’m joining some metaphysical pals for cock-o-tails, 60s soul, and practical magic.
Tonight’s astrology is a glowing embodiment of anarchist Emma Goldman’s immortal words: “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution.”
My intuitive readings schedule opens back up on Valentines Day, and you are welcome to book a reading now. A few love-day appointments are still available, and I’ve already devised new Venus tarot spreads. If you are so inspired, you also may support my Ruby endeavors directly while I recharge my intuitive batteries and conjure new offerings, including a new website and, possibly, a new platform for this newsletter.
Your support allows me to serve, and I am eternally grateful.
