Postcards from the Other Side
Why Halloween week is "Coven Christmas," and how we receive its gifts.
Hi, doll.
This is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s not just because of the crisp temperatures, the autumn bounty, the cozy garb.
It’s because the veil between the living and spirit worlds is at its thinnest.
Scorpio season (October 22-November 21) centers the cycle of life and death so we may dig more deeply into the divine mystery.
Now we can more clearly hear our ancestors and guides, as well as our highest selves. Now linear time collapses into kairos, the Ancient Greeks’ term for soul time, when everything is everywhere, all at once.
This week is especially powerful because we are basking in the refracted glow of Samhain, the October 31-November 1 eves festival that ushers in the darker half of the year.
For pagans, witches, and seers, Samhain is more than an opportunity for unchecked candy consumption and over-the-top pageantry (not that there’s anything wrong with either!). Samhain is what I sometimes call Coven Christmas—one of the most hallowed times of the year.
Even conventional culture calls October 31 Halloween.
Over the next week it is possible to commune directly with anyone on the other side who has fostered our minds, bodies, and hearts. We can heal family trees—genetic and chosen, individual and tribal. We can glimpse whole life lines—multiple life lines, even. We can cast spells that shift time and space.
Every year, I am amazed by what—and who!—flows through Samhain readings. By the signs and sirens, the revelations and rituals, the rich texts of the guides, ancestors, unborn descendants, and dreams that are so easily decoded in this window.
Expect the unexpected, and open up to the up-ending, especially when it comes to blood, love, and spirit lines. This year more than others, there’s wisdom to be received for the collective, not just your individual path.
Above all, prepare to be awed.
Dame, Dame, the Watch is set/Quickly come, we all are met/ From the Woods, and from the Caves/From the Churchyards and from the Graves/From the Dungeon, from the Tree/ That they die on, here are we.—The Masque of Queens
I’ve added more hours to my Samhain week readings schedule, and slots are still available. Book a reading for yourself or a loved one, not only to connect with the other side, but to open up your intuition and set up your own rituals.
It is my honor and great pleasure to summon this Samhain magic on your behalf.
With waggling eyebrows and slow kitty blinks,

Amazing, thanks for the advice for healing Family Trees!
